Hydrometer for sugar AS-3 (0-25%)

Designed to measure the concentration of sugar in aqueous solutions by weight of dry matter.

For measurements, the Hydrometer for sugar AC-3 (0-25%) is immersed in a glass cylinder with a volume of 250 ml with the measured liquid so that the hydrometer floats freely without touching the walls of the cylinder.

Hydrometer AC-3 is used for:

- determining the initial and final gravity of beer, wine or mash

- determination of the alcohol content in beer, wine, mash (calculation method for the table)

- determination of the end of the primary fermentation of beer, wine or mash, as a result, the prevention of souring of the product

The determination of the alcohol content occurs in two stages:

First stage: Determine the initial density of the material. Immediately after preparation of the wort, it is necessary to fill the cylinder and lower the Hydrometer into it. Depending on the primary density, the Hydrometer will sink into the wort to the desired mark. For example, a scale of 10 would correspond to a density of 12% (or close to 6 degrees of alcohol).

Second phase: Determination of the end of primary fermentation. After 4-7 days of fermentation (the time depends on the preparation recipe), it is necessary to repeat the measurements. Usually, the final density of the material is 2-3 hydrometer units, with the exception of strong grades.

Calculation of the alcohol content: from the first reading of the density, the final one must be subtracted. For example, the initial indicator is 12 units, the final one is 3 units. Using the table of values, we determine, 12 units = 6 vol., 3 units = 1.25 vol. As a result, we get: 6 - 1.25 \u003d 4.75 vol. alcohol.
